Enrol for the Manage your Alcohol Duty online service if you’re an approved alcoholic products producer.

This guidance has been published early and is for information only. It will apply from 1 February 2025.
Until then, you must follow the existing guidance for alcohol production, outlined in excise notices 39, 162, 163 and 226.

Who needs to enrol
You must already be an approved producer of alcoholic products.
Before producingFind alcoholicout products,how youto must first get approval from HMRC.
Before you start
You’ll need your 15-digit alcoholic products producer approval (APPA) ID. The APPA ID is made up of 5 letters and 10 numbers (for example, XMADP0123459789).
You will also need one of the following:
- your business postcode
- your Corporation Tax Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)
- your Self Assessment Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)

How producerto approvalfind (your APPA) ID
YouIf canyou findwere already approved to produce alcoholic products before 1 February 2025 we’ll automatically migrate your separate registrations or licenses across to a single alcoholic products producer approval (APPA). Your APPA ID onwill eitherbe in the online service letter orwe sent you in February 2025 to confirm this.
If the online service letter has not arrived by 25 February 2025, contact us by email at: nru.alcohol@hmrc.gov.uk.
The email should include your:
- business name
- registered business address and postcode
- Unique Taxpayer Reference
If you applied for approval to produce alcoholic products after 1 February 2025, you can find your APPA ID in the approval letter that we sent to you.
If you do not have your your APPA ID, ID, contact excise and gambling duties enquiries.
Issues enrolling
If youyou’ve dosigned notin haveto your UTR,business tax account and cannot enrol onto the Manage your Alcohol Duty service, use the link ‘is this page not working properly?’ for support.
If you cancannot findaccess your UTRbusiness numbertax account, contact excise and gambling duties enquiries.
After you’ve enrolled
Once you’re enrolled in the service, you’ll be able to submit your Alcohol Duty return.
