High needs provision capital allocations are provided to local authorities to support the provision of new places and improve existing provision for children and young people:
- with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- requiring alternative provision
The allocations spreadsheet shows how much funding has been allocated to each local authority.authority since the 2021 to 2022 financial year. This fundinghas formsbeen partupdated ofto reflect the £2.6£740 billionmillion we are investing betweenin 2021the and2025 2025.to 2026 financial year.
The explanatory note shows how we calculated the funding for each local authority in the latest round of allocations,allocations for(2025 2023 to 2024 and 2024 to 2025.2026).
The spend guidance document explains what local authorities can spend the funding onon, andincluding thehow issuesLAs theycan shouldinvest considertheir funding to achieveimprove themainstream bestinclusion. outcomes.
The grant determination documents set out the conditions of the grant for payments in the 20232025 to 20242026 and 2024 to 2025 financial years.year.
Additional funding will be used to support high needs capital projects for local authorities with significant dedicated schools grant (DSG) deficits. We’ve contacted these authorities directly.
We also provide capital funding to local authorities to create places for mainstream pupils through the basic need allocations.

The only changes to this year’s document are the dates.
