Changes to electric vehicle chargepoint grant schemes from 1 April 2026
Guidance on forthcoming changes to OZEV home and workplace chargepoint grants.
OZEV’s home and workplace grants have been extended for a final year with a streamlined, simplified portfolio:

5 grant schemes have been extended until 31 March 2027, with new grant rates.

3 schemes
willclosedclosefor applications on 31 March 2026.
This page gives an overview of changes.
The government reserves the right to end or change this grant scheme.
If a grant ends or the grant amount changes, the government will:

Grants available for homes from 1 April 2026
Funding for thesethe following grants is available until 31 March 2027:

Changes to grant rates for homes

Grants available for workplaces from 1 April 2026

WhenOn the new service opens on 1 April 2026, there will be some changes to the way the flats and renters grantgrant and and residential landlord grantchargepoint aregrant moved appliedto a for,new platform for claimedcustomer andapplications.

Installers will receive email notifications when a claim is rejected for further evidence, declined or approved, and will need to keep track of

Transition to Findthe anew grant platform
The currentprevious portalgrant willmanagement close toportal closed to customer applications onapplications on 31 March 2026.
WhenCustomers thewho Findapplied for a grantflats platformand opens,renters customersgrant or residential wholandlord applied forchargepoint agrant before grant before 1 April willApril can be able to reapply for the higher £500 grant rate usingby theregistering newfor service. Their olda new account.
The old application willwould be cancelled and the newthe one willnew beone assessed.
Customers cannot reapply for the higher rate if their chargepoint has already been installed.
If you do not wish to re-apply, your installer will be able to fit your chargepoint and claim the grant on the current portal (up to £350 per socket) until it closes for claims on 26 May.
After that date your application will expire and you will need to submit a new application on Find a grant.application.
Installers who have submitted claims on the current portal will have up to 6 July to provide any further evidence requested.
If a claim can not be processed installers will have the opportunity to re-claim on the Findnew a grant platform for a limited period.
Timescales for assessing applications and claims
Initially we estimate that it will take up to 10 working days to assess applications and claims submitted on Findthe anew grant. platform.
ChargepointsCustomers must not behave their chargepoint installed until wereceiving havenotification notifiedfrom OZEV you that youthey are eligible for a grant. We will notify your installer at the same time.
ClosurePhoto of grantrequirements for flats schemesand renters and landlord chargepoint grants
The timeline forFrom 1 April, installers’ claims must include the closurefollowing photographic evidence:

a close up photo of
the stafftheand fleets, commercialcharge pointlandlordyou installed -
a photo of the charge point you installed showing the model and serial number

a photo of the charge point you installed and the associated parking space

a photo with a wide field view of the building or space where the charge point has been installed

The full closure timeline is as follows:

last date for customers to apply for a grant – 31 March 2026

last date for installers to claim a grant – 26 May 2026

claims if furtherclaims ifinformation requested –6further information requested - 6 July 2026 (unless your current deadline on the portal is earlier)
This means installers will have 3 months from the announcement of the closure on 25 February to complete installations and submit claims.
Processing of claims
There will be enough time to process all claims, so long as installers provide the requiredas installers provide the required evidence within the deadlines.
Even if claims are submitted on the closing date (26 May 2026), there willthere is be time for at least 2 resubmissions if installers respondif installers respond promptly to requests.
Eligibility criteria for closing grants
BeforeFor takingreference, these are the key eligibility criteria for the closing grants.
Staff and fleets grant
Businesses you are installing on anybehalf newof must have fewer than 250 staff.
The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, pleaseup maketo surea youmaximum willof £15,000 per installation.
You can claim up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed and up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure.
The chargepoints can only be ableused by the building’s staff and vehicles. They cannot be used by members of the public.
You must install at least one chargepoint socket as part of the work.
You must carry out work on at least 5 parking spaces, so they either have chargepoint sockets or are ready to meethave thesethem deadlinesinstalled in the future.
Each parking space must be off-street, private and clearly defined (it does not have to be part of the property) and owned by the business applicant or one they have legal right to
Commercial landlord chargepoint grant
Landlords you are installing on behalf of must let or lease the property to a business that pays business rates. Commercial landlords are eligible for grants for claimsup to 100 sockets per year.
The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work up to a maximum of £350 per chargepoint socket.
The chargepoint(s) can only be used by the building’s staff and anyvehicles. They cannot resubmissions.be Claimsused willby members of the public.
Each parking space must be off-street, private and clearly defined (it does not have to be declinedpart ifof the property) and owned by the landlord or one they have legal right to.
Residential landlord infrastructure grant
Landlords you doare not.installing on behalf of must own or manage a property with multiple homes for example an apartment block, or estate with buildings that share a car park .
Terms and
The conditions grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £30,000 per installation.
You must install at least one chargepoint socket as part of the work.
You must carry out work on at least 5 parking spaces, so they either have chargepoint sockets or are ready to have them installed in the future.
Each parking space must be off-street, private and clearly defined (it does not have to be part of the property) and workplaceowned by the landlord or one they have legal right to.
The grant schemes.is not available for holiday rentals.
