A magnitude 7.6 earthquake has hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. Aftershocks are continuing and tsunami warnings have been issued all along the Sea of Japan coast. If you are in the affected areas, please follow the instructions from the local authorities and check the latest information on NHK World news.  The areas where tsunami warnings or advisories have been issued are as follows:

Sea of Japan coast in Ishikawa, Yamagata, Niigata, Toyama, Fukui, Hyogo, Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, Kyoto, Tottori, Shimane, Yamaguchi, Fukuoka and Saga prefectures.
