‘Nankai Trough megaquake’ warning

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a ‘Nankai Trough megaquake advisory’ on 8 August.

This means that the risk of a significant earthquake affecting large parts of Japan is higher than usual.

People in Japan are advised to familiarise themselves with the Japan National Tourism Organisation safety advice as a precaution, and follow any further advice from national and local authorities.

Tropical Storm AMPIL

Tropical Storm AMPIL (Tropical Storm No7) is expect to cause significant disruption, including to travel across the Kanto and Tohoku regions from 16 to 17 August.
