How to change the password, phone number or email address you use to sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.

Change or reset your password
Change your password
You can change your password in your GOV.UK One Login. To do this:
- Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
- Go to ‘Security’.
- Under ‘Your sign in details’, find the row for ‘Password’ and select ‘change’.
- Enter your current password and select ‘Continue’.
- Enter a new password and select ‘Continue’.
Reset your password
If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it. To do this:
- Go to sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
- Select ‘Sign in’.
- Enter your email address.
- On the ‘Enter password’ screen, select the link that says ‘I’ve forgotten my password’.
- Check your email for a security code.
- Enter the security code and select ‘Continue’.
- Enter another security code - you’ll get this by text message or from your authenticator app.
- Enter a new password and select ‘Continue’.
Change your phone number
You can change the phone number you use to get security codes to sign in. To do this:
- Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
- Go to ‘Security’.
- Under ‘How you get security codes’, find the row for ‘Text message’ and select ‘change’.
- Enter your password and select ‘Continue’.
- Enter a new phone number and select ‘Continue’.
- Check your phone for a text message containing a security code.
- Enter the security code and select ‘Continue’.
If you’ve lost access to your phone
If you’ve lost access to your phone number or changed it, you canmay be able to change how you get security codes,codes asto longsign asin you do not also need to resetGOV.UK yourOne password.Login.
ToYou’ll only be able to change how you get security codes: codes if you’ve already proved your identity with GOV.UK One Login.
You’ll need to:
- Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
- Enter your password.
- When asked to enter the security code, select ‘Problems with the code’.
- Select
‘change‘Check if you can change how you get securitycodes’codes’.
If -you’re thistold willyou sendcannot achange codehow you get security codes, contact GOV.UK One Login.
If you’re told you can change how you get security codes, you’ll need to prove your emailidentity address.
We’ll ask some questions to make sure you can use the GOV.UK ID Check app. Then we’ll tell you how to download and use the app to prove your identity.
You can then choose how you want to get security codescodes. -You this can behave codes sent to a newmobile phone number or get them from an authenticator app.

Change your email address
You can change your email address in your GOV.UK One Login. To do this:
- Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
- Go to ‘Security’.
- Under ‘Your sign in details’, find the row for ‘Email’ and select ‘change’.
- Enter your password and select ‘Continue’.
- Enter a new email address and select ‘Continue’.
- Check your email for a security code.
- Enter the security code and select ‘Continue’.
