FCDO advises against travel to Sudan for security reasons.

Security situation in Sudan

We are closely monitoring the situation in Khartoum and other parts of Sudan where there are ongoing military clashes. There is now fighting in various locations across Sudan. Khartoum International Airport is currently closed.

A renewed 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan is in place and is due to end at midnight Sudan time on 3 May, at which point violence could escalate. We have already seen signs of escalating violence.

Evacuation from Port Sudan

The UK government will run final evacuation flights from Port Sudan on 3 May. If you areplan ato leave Sudan, you should arrive at the Coral Hotel in Port Sudan by 10am on 3 May to be processed to travel. After that, no further British nationalevacuation flights will operate from Port Sudan.

Evacuation from Khartoum

The UK Government is no longer running evacuation flights from Wadi Saeedna airfield. The last evacuation flight departed the airfield at 2200 Sudan time on 29 April.

Travelling to Saudi Arabia from Port Sudan

Travelling to Egypt from Sudan

IfThere you are a British national in Sudan and you are waiting to cross into Egypt at Wadi Halfa, Argeen or Qustul, you should contact the British Embassy in Cairo on +2 (02) 2791 6000. Our ability to provide consular assistance in these locations is very limited, but British Embassy staff are temporarily available on the Egyptian side of the border to provide support if you need urgent consular assistance.

There continues to be reports of large numbers of people attempting to crossleave Sudan via the border fromcrossing Sudanwith intoEgypt Egypt.with long queues and difficult conditions. There are two2 main land border crossings between Egypt and Sudan, at Qustul and Argeen. The nearest town in Sudan to the crossings is Wadi Halfa (30km from border).

Travel within Sudan is conducted at your own risk. There is almost no infrastructure at these border crossings. Individuals are currently waiting up to several days to transit the border, with very limited access to food and water.

Travelling to Chad, Eritrea, Central Africa Republic or Ethiopia from Sudan

Sudan’s borders with Chad and Eritrea are currently closed.

FCDO advises against all travel to Central African Republic and within 20km of the Ethiopian side of the border with Sudan.

If you have recently left Sudan, and develop fever or flu-like symptoms, you should seek medical attention straight away and tell them that you have recently left a malarial risk area.
