£2 bus fare cap
How to get a ticket and list of bus operators in the £2 bus fare cap scheme.

New bus fare cap from 1 January 2023
From 1 January 2023, 130 bus operators will introduce a £2 fare cap on single tickets. The cap will remain in place until 31 March 2023.
This guidance tells you how to find the £2 fares and lists the operators that are taking part in the scheme.
How to get a £2 ticket
To find fare cap tickets and plan your journey you can use Traveline or check the website of your local bus operator.

Bus operators not included in the fare cap
Participation in the bus fare cap scheme is voluntary, and some bus operators have chosen not to take part. If your local operator is not included in the list of participating operators, they may have other types of ticket which are suitable for your needs.
Fares are already capped in the following areas, so they are not included in this scheme:
Reporting fraudulent activity
If you think that someone is committing fraud, theft or corruption related to the bus fare cap you can report it by:
- calling the DfT fraud hotline on 07827 843 953
- emailing Counter-FraudBribery@dft.gov.uk
