- ~~Update:~~Reminder: Essex Police are now using Common Platform to prosecute traffic cases through the Single Justice Procedure. The procedure is already available for police forces across England and Wales, with the majority of cases handled through our legacy system Libra and defendants able to plea online via the ‘Make a Plea’ platform. As part of our plans to create a more efficient and streamlined justice service, these cases have now moved to Common Platform. The service allows defendants of low level, summary only, non-imprisonable offences such as speeding or driving without insurance to enter a plea online. Cases are then reviewed by a single magistrate, aided by a legal adviser.
