Our year in focus

Ahead of the new year, our Chief Executive, Nick Goodwin has published a blog highlighting some of the things that have happened across the courts and tribunals over 2023.

Nick reflects on the year and some of the challenges, accomplishments and milestones for HMCTS.

Reformed services data

For the first time we’ve published data about our reformed services which shows that between April 2019 and September 2023 there were 2.4 million digital applications across our online services.

Figures show a trend towards increased use of digital services, while the satisfaction scores of those using them remain high.

Supporting students to understand the justice system

Earlier this year, law students from the University of West London joined courts in our South East region to gain an insight into the court system across different jurisdictions.

A new blog highlights the diverse types of work HMCTS offered to the students and shares some of their feedback.

Strategic Engagement Group Chair’s summary

Monthly management information

We’ve published our latest monthly management information for October 2022 to October 2023. The data highlights workload volumes and timeliness in courts and tribunals at a national level.

The last HMCTS Update of the year

This week’s HMCTS Update will be the last of 2023 and we’ll resume as normal during the first week in January. In the meantime, we’d like to wish you all an enjoyable, restful festive period and a very happy 2024.

Common Platform

Single Justice police traffic cases are moving to Common Platform

All Single Justice Procedure (SJP) police traffic cases in the South East and North Wales will now be managed using Common Platform. Queries about SJP cases in these areas should be directed to our service centre:

Support for defence professionals using digitised PET and BCM forms

Defence professionals can watch a video of our recent seminar offering help and advice on using the digitised Preparation for Effective Trial (PET) and Better Case Management (BCM) forms on Common Platform.
