Crime

Common Platform

  • Update: The Common Platform case management system is now in these Gloucestershire courts. Find out ofhow to use Common Platform

  • Reminder: Essex Police are now using Common Platform to allprosecute criminaltraffic courtscases through the Single Justice Procedure. The procedure is already available for police forces across England and whatWales, improvementswith arethe stillmajority of cases handled through our legacy system Libra and defendants able to come.plea online via the ‘Make a Plea’ platform. As part of our plans to create a more efficient and streamlined justice service, these cases have now moved to Common Platform. The service allows defendants of low level, summary only, non-imprisonable offences such as speeding or driving without insurance to enter a plea online. Cases are then reviewed by a single magistrate, aided by a legal adviser.

  • Reminder: Legal professionals can join one of our regular online support sessions to get help with activating or logging into your account, accessing case information, checking in for a hearing or any other aspect of Common Platform. Sessions take place on Tuesdays at 4:30pm and Thursdays at 9am. Book a drop-in session. Family

  • Update: Form COP3 (an ‘assessment of capacity’) to submit an expert opinion about someone’s mental capacity has been updated and should be used with immediate effect. Read about the updated form.

Civil

  • Reminder:Update: Thousands of people will be automatically referred to access free mediation sessions to resolve disputes away from court when it becomes a requirement for small civil claims values up to £10,000. Find out more.

  • Reminder:Update: Legal professionals using the MyHMCTS platform to pay a claim issue fee for the Damages Claims and Online Civil Money Claims services can now do so by card or through Pay by Account (PBA). See how to register for Payment by Account (PBA).

Family

  • Reminder: We are now accepting payment for probate applications by credit or debit card. MyHMCTS will update to show successful payment and email notifications to confirm payment by card will be sent. The MyHMCTS dashboard will update to confirm payment as usual. Apply for probate with MyHMCTS
